6 hr Hands On (Confident Beginner
- Advanced)
Cathy is combining these
two classes for one fantastic day!
Did you know that you can do more with your long arm than just quilt? You
can put the borders and bindings on too! In this class we will do just that! I'll talk about how to cut, press
and apply the binding. Did you know that all bindings are not cut 2 1/2" wide? I'll show you samples with different
battings to illustrate how wide you need to cut the binding fabric. I'll share tons of tips on how to improve your work.
But
wait, there are more than borders!
Can't think of what to put in the borders of that quilt? Never fear, help
is here! I'll show you several different kinds of feathers plus how to use straight lines, curves, arcs and circles to create
stunning design to add sparkle to the quilt. I'll show you how to easily
find correct spacing for your border designs and share lots of tips.

We’ve Only Just begun…
To quilt that is. That big, wonderful long arm machine is sitting
in your studio and you’re thinking “now what? “Have no fear, help is here!
I’ll share my secrets on how to avoid the mistakes I made when I started out years ago on this quilting journey with
the long arm. We will start with getting ready to quilt. That means proper pressing, measuring and squaring up the backing.
How to float a top and stabilizing the top before you do all your detailed quilting that may cause the quilt to go out of
square. We will be doing how to start and stop a line of quilting, how to do in the ditch quilting and free motion quilting.
I’ll share tons of tips on what tools you need, how to mark a quilt and how to find quilting designs. I hope to have
time to discuss how to come up with quilting ideas for your quilts so please bring a quilt top or a picture to share. See you in class!
